Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists and sports performance coaches are not necessarily technique coaches. Instead, they assist the athlete and rest of the coaching staff in achieving positioning, stamina, strength—every aspect needed to achieve the goal of that athlete in their sport. They often work with multiple sports/teams at any given time.

A Strength & Conditioning Specialist understands the movements and physiology needed to enhance performance. For instance, stability in the canoe helps you apply force to your stroke and staving off injuries keeps you paddling longer. Both can be addressed with a specific strength program that targets paddling movement. Paddling-specific conditioning helps your neural system adapt to higher intensities and your energy system become more efficient at producing power over a longer period. Race-specific nutrition further helps with peak performance.
